Your life is your creation. Based on all the programming that you have received and what you have programmed yourself (please read my blog post How Have We Created Our Experience of Life for more information).
Since your life is your creation, you can also create a new kind of life for yourself.
How does that happen?
Most of us go on with their lives just using the same programming and repeating the same patterns, achieving the same kind of results.
The thing is that when you start changing even parts of that programming that you have in your mind, in your neurology, things start to change.
What to Change and How?
So when you change your habits and, especially, your beliefs, that changes the way you think. And when you change the way you think, you start to have new perceptions on life. With the new perceptions, you start to create new kinds of emotions.
With new emotional states, you begin to act and behave in different ways. And when you act and behave differently, you achieve different results.
And, further on, when you achieve different results, it again changes the way you perceive the world. So there are several parts, several things that you can do to change your perception.
How to Get Started With the Changes
One of the first things when you start to take control of your life is, first of all, really not letting the outside world, the environment run you.
You can choose how to react on the environment. If somebody says you something you might find unpleasant, you can choose how you react or how you respond to it.
You don’t have to get angry if somebody cuts you in when you’re driving, for example. Your response is a choice. So when you start reacting and responding in a different way, you start to take control of your life.
And when you take control of your life, then it also changes the environment. Since your behavior changes, the environment also reacts and responds in a new way.
What Do You Want?
One of the main components in designing a new life for yourself is deciding what you want. To get you on the right track right away, you need to really think what you want to move towards to.
Instead of just thinking, okay, I don’t want this or I want to avoid this, you need to decide where you want go and who do you want to become. Stating what you don’t want doesn’t give you or your brain any guidance or direction on where to go.
You need to think where do you want to go. If you don’t want this, what do you want instead? That’s one of the first things to do.

That is also what I meant earlier when I said that if you let the external world run your life, you’re not in control of your life, you are not designing your own life. Designing your own life means that you take control of your thoughts, your thought processes, and therefore you can start to change also the environment.
